The Official Trailer for 'BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE' Is HERE!! — Latino-Review.com
http://www.latino-review.com/news/the-o ... ke-is-here

I'm finding that a little... static. Like they've decided the only way to recreate the comic was to slow the film down a bit to get 'panel shots'. Maybe it's just the trailer...

SPOILER ALERT

Catching up on Gotham, and Pee Wee Hermann pops up. Well, Paul Reubens, but I was still waiting for the word of the day to appear.

Just seen the new trailer for BvS:DoJ extended edition. A few scenes in there that were definitely not in the film. Keen to watch this as it supposedly fleshes out things in the film.

There was talk of it having loads of villains, so elements of Hush maybe.

Yikes. But TBH does remind me of Gordon from Year One - he had a good physique.

Batman's Killing Joke, and its 'edgy' rape storyline, is not a comeback I want to see | Books | The Guardian
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2016/ ... alan-moore

That's some FAIL right there. Apart from the nonsense of pretending a comic's fictional characters didn't commit a fictional act, it wasn't even the last time the Joker raped/sexually assaulted someone. And in the particular instance I'm thinking of he felt dirty afterwards. You know, cos he's a fcuked-up fictional character? Who once even touched up Batman in a comic that had the Mad Hatter as a paedo? The notion that you can't or shouldn't use certain storylines is utterly ridiculous in the context of a character like Batman, or indeed almost any dark character.

Frankly, if it wasn't such a well-known comic, the author of that article probably wouldn't have gave a sh1t. There's certainly any amount of rape instances across comics that could have been listed before and after this one.

And as for Moore disowning it, he's disowned decades of his life in comics ffs!

These people will need therapy if they ever pick up anything by Garth Ennis...

I read that yesterday but forgot to link it. Certainly when I read TKJ, I didn't get the idea that the Joker had raped Barbara. It just highlightedhow evil the Joker is. The author either has some sort of special edition of TKJ, or hasn't read it properly. Nor has the author read much of other comics. I remember reading about Thundercats where Mumm-Ra was raping Cheetarah and have Wily-Kit as his sex slave or something equally messed up.

I'd no idea that Thundercats story existed, just Googled it

Context is everything. It's why I always grimace when I see DC/Marvel comics by the Spongebob ones - clearly nobody has had a look at the content.
