Anything look out of line?

Are they actual cars or models?!

I was sure they were models...But the more I look the less I'm sure...

It's called tilt-shift. They're real cars. My guess is they've been attacked in software to add the blur and give the impression of shallow depth of field. It's a great technique, and one I want to play with eventually.

It's funny. I've spent most of my adult life trying to take photos of scale models to look like the real thing, only to find people are making real things look like models!

I like the treatment of the background - if you can, isolate the Trans-Am and brighten it, maybe tweak the levels just a little, and try it on the background after that. :)

Just turning down the saturation of the Cyan would be a start. Aside from that, I'd say it looks pretty good.

"Photographer Jason Hawkes returns to The Big Picture once more, this time venturing away from London (seen previously here and here). Recently, Hawkes has been carrying his Nikon D3 aboard helicopters around the world, hanging out the doorway and capturing landscapes - most somehow affected by humans - below. Today, he has shared with us 26 more of his favorite photos from above France, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, the UK and more - with links to Google maps where available. (26 photos total)"

Now that *would* be a cool accessory for a D3 owner to have... (8-p)

So, I've been playing with the Lensbaby I bought a while ago.
It takes some getting used to, and I've also realised that I need to push it one stop to get the correct exposure, for some reason. Dunno why, but there we are. Quite a few wasted frames figuring that one out.

Image

I think I'll persevere with it for a while longer. Getting the right sort of subject that warrants the effect is half the battle, like anything really. It doesn't always come out on trips with me either, but maybe I should revise that.

Google Adjustment Layers, that's a hue and saturation adjustment layer with everything except cyan and blue set to 0 saturation and boosting the blues. Then increased the contrast in the background layer and applied an unsharp mask, job done, just tweaking options really that's easy stuff to learn from playing around with the buttons to work out what they do.
