Let's kick things off properly:

;)

That's Emma Stone, the new Gwen Stacey in the upcoming Spider-man reboot:

...

More potential good news in that it can't be any worse than the first film, Wolverine 2 may be getting Darren Aronofsky :D :

Not sure on that plot though :?

...

So, anything comic book related - comics and graphic novels, films, games, general chat, whatever :)

I was in Waterstone's earlier today looking for something to spend a Book Voucher on (that I've had since last Christmas) and although I didn't get anything this time I am considering the Graphic Novel of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies :) . The art doesn't look too bad at all.

The only other thing of interest was a Batman Graphic Novel drawn by Jim Lee who's one of the few artists working in comics whose work I look out for. There's an interesting video of Lee doing a drawing of Jean Grey here: Clicky

Great vid, cheers!

Watching how quickly those guys can turn a few lines into something brilliant and recognisable never fails to amaze me. And Stan Lee's just 8-)

Do you remember the title of the Batman book? If it was Hush, I highly recommend it ;)

Karl Urban Goes Into More Detail About His Role As Judge Dredd

The actor goes into even more detail about what the character means to him, shares his thoughts on the 1995 version and reveals more about DREDD's plot and tone including the look of the set and more...

On What The Character Means To Him:

"I first started reading Judge Dredd comics when I was probably about 15, working in a pizza parlour. I really responded to the character and the world, so I'm pretty thrilled to be given the opportunity to take this one on."

On How Work On The Movie Is Going So Far:

"Things are going great - we've got a really great script and we're putting together a really fantastic cast. Pete Travis is directing and we're going to start shooting in about eight weeks in South Africa."

On The Movies Plot:

"It is kind of based on an amalgamation of stories. It's a day-in-the-life of Dredd as he gets to put his rookie - Anderson - through her paces. It's going to be hardcore."

On The 1995 Sylvester Stallone Version:

"I read an interview that Stallone had given, and by his own admission, he said that he felt that his Judge Dredd movie was a missed opportunity. It's not really for me to voice my opinion as to what didn't work in the movie for me, but I can say that our version is in no way related to that - it's a different beast."

On How Dredd Will Differ:

"It's going to be much more gritty, much more real - the environment, Mega City One, is going to feel like a real city. It's not going to feel like a Hollywood back-lot. There will be no gold cod-pieces, and we're definitely going to stay faithful to the way that the character was originally conceived and written. He'll keep helmet on."

It's already been confirmed that DREDD will be filmed in 3D and actress Olivia Thirlby has been cast as Judge Anderson. It's set to be released in cinemas at some point in 2012!

DC Comics Insults Marvel, Says No to "Justice League" Movie

Speaking at the New York Comic-Con, DC Comics' chief creative officer Geoff Johns confirmed that Warner Bros and DC Comics are not planning to bring their superheroes together for a "Justice League of America" movie.

"I'm going to speak frankly: I think our characters are bigger than Marvel's," he said, adding that he would rather spend time building on each character rather than "smashing them together."

We've already heard rumors that a "Justice League of America" movie may never happen, but that may be because Christopher Nolan has previously shared his opinion that Superman and Batman can't exist in the same world.

Actually, to the mainstream, I'd say both companies are pretty much equal... Though I agree on giving them their own movies rather than a potentially awful team-up :)

It was Hush and I may well get that shortly. However a trip to the library today enabled me to get Death Note 7 to 12 inclusive (a rare happening to be able to borrow a run like that) so I'm busy for a while. Death Note is becoming very complicated now, far beyond what is covered in the two live-action films.

I put a short review for Dead Snow in the Film Reviews thread. It's a good zombie movie set in stunning Norwegian scenery.

I've got a couple of sketches somewhere that were done at a London Comic Convention many years ago. They're by William Simpson, an Irish artist who did some of the early Garth Ennis Hellblazer stories and had recently done a short series on a female vampires motorcycle gang. I've got a sketch of Constantine and one of a female vampire. He was a really decent guy too....they are not all like that.
