Annoying woman on train this morning was busy texting away with her keypad making noises and intruding on my quiet bliss. Needless yo say I quickly put on the iPod headphones. With every phone I've ever had I turn them off.

What do you do?

Definitely off, it's very annoying. I'm also tempted to turn the haptic feedback off.

I have them on on my iPhone but it's only a click as though you had pressed a physical button.

As it's a touch screen there is no feedback to say when you have pressed so having the click helps.

It's not very loud though. Probably about the same as someone typing on a physicak keypad with the tones off.

I'm glad I'm not the only one then.

The iPhone clicks actually go quieter as you type your message. I've usually got it on vibrate only on the train anyway.

Mine are on it seems.

I had to check as I don't tend to get wound up by little things like this so I had no idea whether they were on or not.

Edit: Mind you I do get wound up by people yapping or tapping away on their phone when on trains. Whatever happened to just chilling and looking at the landscape go by?

No random stranger, I don't wish to know about every aspect of your life, STFU!

On my Samsung S5600, I can only turn off the keypad tones if I turn the whole volume down temporarily, before I start texting. Then you don't hear if there's a phone call! There appears to be an option in the settings to turn the volume of key tones down, but it just doesn't work - bleedin' thing!

*Wonders if there's a firmware fix for it*

Never buying a Samsung again.

Worst phone I've ever had the misfortune to own.
IIRC, you can turn off the keypad noises though.
But yes, never buying Samsung again - the whole experience has put me off the brand entirely, sadly. I might relent for their SDHC cards however, they look quite tasty.

Oh, and off.

Apart from the iphone, with all of my other phones, I quickly created profiles. Apart from a loud profile (for outdoor use) all of the others had keytones deactivated.

With my iphone, i find there's only on/off so off all of the time unless I'm in a noisy environment, in which case on.
