I biology in the 1980s, I was taught that fungus was more akin to animals than vegetables. That can really cause she awkward moments. These days, mint seems that fungi are nearing a separate classification as they don't fit comfortably in either animal or vegetable kingdoms.

Congratulations Zippy. I trust you made it through day one without any major issues.
Beware the fen roads mind, they aren't as flat or as straight as they seem and there's usually a ditch nearby to claim the unwary.

I did, I got through 2 late shifts pretty well unscathed, I was really nervous on day 1, but I did some basic observation stuff, lots of non-emergency driving and supported my crewmates; one of our patients patted my cheek and said I reminded her of a red cabbage

Day 2 was much better, I wasn't so nervous, I did the blue light driving and managed a patient from start to finish including handover and booking in at the hospital. I was complimented on my driving by my mentor who said I drive on blue lights like a good game of chess...tactical and planned four moves ahead 8-)

I'm on rest days until Sunday now and then onto day shifts on Monday.

Congratulations, Zippy!

Currently contemplating my first day at work, tomorrow, after six months unemployment. Feels strange. In a good way.

Maybe, it's because they have to work with you?

I work with drivers not these filthy feral mechanics, thankfully, worst people ever, now if only I had the power to kick the Scots out and replace them with the English and filipino

Why not just move to the filipines, (deliberate mis-spelling!) then? There'll be lots of filipino people and a number of foreign English, as well.

Best of both worlds. :P

Interesting... Just found out why I didn't get a pay rise this year. Some two faced rat bastard is going to have an uncomfortable conversation next week.

My sister, the militant vegan, is now complaining that she’s not been invited to her work’s Christmas meal for eight years. In my mind, the phrase “I can‘t think why...” crosses my mind.

So that’ll set the tone of the conversation when I’m round with my family over Christmas. It’ll be like last year, when being vegan was pretty much the sole topic of conversation.
