Interesting times ahead, I think.

Mark

I think the Doctor was so angry about the massacre of the Silurians that he was just looking for an excuse. He'd already made up his mind.

People say that episode was a bit lighthearted and jolly - but boy has it got a sinister subtext. We should be frightened of the Doctor too.

Note - this episode was directed by the second unit director of the Judge Dredd film.

Yep, he was not best pleased with that little bit of information.

This has always been the case.
The Doctor masks a lot with his humour and his manic behavour, it's good that we are starting to see this more frequently now, though I wouldn't want it to come to much to the fore.

Has the overriding theme for this season been presented us already?
The Daleks (thanks to Oswin) now don't know/recognise The Doctor, and in this episode the machine that Solomon used to scan The Doctor didn't recognise him either.
When The Doctor is recognised, he has a history to play up to, but when he's not, he can be totally unpredictable. I'm not entirely sure having an unpredictable Doctor is a good thing, though it will keep the audience guessing and on their toes as to what the character will likely do next, which is nice.

So many parallels in this story I don't know where to start.

I didn't like it. Storyline was too fuzzy and slow.

Have to admit that me and Mrs. V. looked at each other when it ended and said "Well, that was a whole load of nothing much happening"

[Potential Spoiler]It was nice to see Susan making an appearance though[/Potential Spoiler]

You can't have every episode zipping along at 100mph, you have to have the slower episodes.
This episode was full of information about The Doctor, it just was't spoon feeding the audience.
Sometimes it's good to have to think things through and make your own connections.
Fuzzy storyline? Not really, it was actually very linear.
This episode had a lot of dominant specularity in it. It's not always going to be everyone's cup of tea, but I thought this episode gave us an insight in to The Doctor that has been building for some time now, particularly this season.
It may not have been the strongest story, but I never found it slow.

Depends what you want.
For further insight in to The Doctor and where this season is heading, yes, it is.
If you want a rollocking episode that jumps about the timeline like a smallchild skipping down a road, then no, it's not.

Highest overnight ratings so far this season.
I think there's only two more episodes to go before it breaks until the Christmas Special.

As you may or may not know, I am not a fan of Doctor Who.
So, I settled in to watch last nights out of a curiosity to see what I'm missing.
I'm still not seeing what the fuss is.
And I'd like to - people I know and like seem to enjoy it.

In all fairness, last night's episode wasn't the best to watch if you wanted to see what the fuss is about.

Interesting seeing genocide being woven into this series. We've seen the Daleks (genocidal to the point of it being an art), we've seen an individual act of genocide (Solomon ditching the Silurians) and now we've got the Mengele experimenter.

And, we have to ask, just why is the Doctor angry? Is it guilt? Has he done these things himself?

I thought A Town Called Mercy really aimed high in this respect. A fantastic episode that poses a lore of questions. I'll be interested to see how (or if) this is developed. If it is, I suspect we'll have a gem of a series on our hands.

As a friend of mine tweeted. I was expecting The Doctor to create a Dove Program for the cyborg.

Also, I thought they would have escape aboard a train over the Clayton Ravine :D

Quite.

Next time I'm up buying ski gear, I'll bring you some more appropriate stuff.

Clayton Ravine would've been nice. The "Doc" reference was strong with this one!
