Ok guys, I never meant for people to use the word "fanboy". I just found it interesting that at this show there were Macs everywhere and hardly anyway Windows machines. Dave, my Dell XPS cost £2000 when new and is very, very well put together. The wi-fi is probably playing up for a stupid reason I haven't got around to looking at yet and I don't use it that often anyway. Apparently, the power adapter problem is common as they just get thrown in bags and don't last forever.

Then it sounds like poor design, my Advent power adapter has been all over Europe in aircraft, cars, slung in the corner, running 24/7 for a year and it is 9 years old. Likewise the Acer has been lugged all over the place, stuffed in bags, currently banging around between my girlfriend's and my place, cables getting bunched up and thrown in a corner...

Well they don't suit everyone. The more "under the hood" types tend not to like OS X very much. Unless that is they are really at home with the command line. *shudder*

I disagree with you CC. OS X offers far more direct control of how stuff works with access to the real *nix gubbins beneath. And it also provides a nice simple interface on the top. I think it's only the middle ground tinkerers who prefer Windows, with high-level tweaking tools available.

Maybe I did not explain myself too well. I was trying to say just what you have just said. But not as well as you did.

;)

It is funny, at work, most of our machines have motherboard graphics chipsets, but it is one of the things I criticised with the new iMacs, when Apple castrated all but the top model, by removing the discrete graphics chipsets and using on-board chipsets... That said, the 9400M in the MBP seems nice and the Intel 4500HD on my work laptop is more than enough to play HD video on a second display...

I think it is just the years of crappy Intel and S3 onboard graphics, which had problems with the XP desktop, let alone video...

That said, it was a strange decision on Apple's part, the announcement was preceded by the launch of their GPGPU software: Its amazing, cool etc. we are harnessing the graphics chip in your Mac to help perform complex calculation... Oh and the new MacBook Pros and iMacs, we've removed the graphics chip... :face palm:
