Should you really be releasing the state of your control panel to Joe Public?

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

It's not as if it's a safety iss ue that would cause a public scare story. The well is cemented in at the moment anyway, with very heavy kill mud between all the cement plugs. There isn't any danger to anyone. This is exactly how the well has been suspended for the last year. We only came along and ran the riser and BOP's a couple of weeks ago. It's just boring having nothing to do while they fix it.

Woohoo! They've finally fixed it. It's only taken 72 hours.

No I'm afraid not. Rowan = Company that owns the rig Gorilla = Gorilla class or super gorilla class jack up oil rig 5 = 5th rig owned by Rowan of that class. EDIT #2 Updated ClickyThis is the rig.

The new BBC Homepage. It's crap. I filled out the survey as follows: - How would you rate the new BBC Homepage?
- 1/10 (and that was because zero wasn't available)
- What do you like about the new BBC Homepage?
- At least it doesn't use the crappy red BBC News idents
- What do you like about the new BBC Homepage?
- It doesn't render properly in Firefox 8.0. I have hosted a screenshot at http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/4639/bbchome2.png
1. The search box isn't a box 2. The ticker categories are on top of the ticker instead of underneath 3. The ticker either isn't tall enough or there are too many links 4. The chevron buttons (on "Most Popular", "What's On", "Explore") are variously subjacent/superjacent to the fields they relate to 5. The iPlayer icons on the "Most Popular"/"What's On" image links should be a mouseover but instead either is a grey rectangle or doesn't render at all 6. There are grey boxes at the bottom left and bottom right corners that seem to be an attempt at a background. However, because the giant ticker and the menus at the top aren't width-constrained, they just look orphaned and silly. 7. The labels for the two image links in "What's On" aren't in the same light area of the What's On field that the images are. 8. The "BBC NEWS" text in the ticker is obviously a link whereas "BBC SPORT" only assumes its well-known colours on mouseover 9. If the aim was to make the homepage more efficient, why are there big chunks of whitespace?

Don't get me wrong - I think it's great that they're trying to use their BBC Online budget to support the RNIB. I just wish someone would check their work.

Sorry, but I'll have to disagree with you on that one.

I have to agree, the only thing I ever had to do was find a driver for my USB wifi adapter and manually install that. No biggy. Everything else, well, I have to give it credit, I find it just works.

Thought you might. Let me be clear that it's probably not the OS's fault - a lot of things work out of the box and these days it's pretty safe. It's the interface - I just can't seem get my head around it. I've spent 6 years full-time in Planet Linux and so now I feel with W7 like I did at first with SUSE 10.0 in January 2006. It's great but everything productive I try to do takes about four times as long as it should. Once I reset the theme back to Windows Classic I was a bit faster which probably says something...
