The drive to work.
Roads are covered in a thick sheet of ice. That will make driving fun - if I can get into my car, there is also a thick sheet of ice over the car, not sure if I can get the doors open!

BBC Breakfast... Do they not realise that they are basically recreating a Top Gear feature? It's the old "Which is the quickest way to get to work in London? Bike, Bus or Fly, like Superman" and no, I didn't watch the whole thing so the last one might be wrong.

There's some sort of write-up in the cool toys thread, but I didn't read it myself (my Nikon bridge camera is as far as I go!)

Assuming current conversion rates from dollars to pounds it's about the same as the D4s isn't it? Not that the wrong side of £4k is anything to sniff at right enough, but pretty consistent with the high end pro DLSR market. I'll take two or I would if I didn't have Canon kit.

Needs to be in photography section but just seen the specs and it trounces all over Canon who look like they're being left behind. Even Sony are racing ahead. The cost is £5200 according to Wex photographic. I'll never be able to afford one until the D10 comes out the the D5 is like £250, and even then I'd have to flog what little Canon gear I have.

I'll be expecting Canon to make updates to the 1D line to counter at some point but for now I'd have to agree.

Unless you're a pro wouldn't the full frame D610/D750/D810/Df suffice for most for a fraction of the cost? I'm still curious to see what Pentax will do with their full frame offering. It won't be a pro model but given Pentax history I'm expecting a surprising feature or two. My K3-II for example ditched flash in favour of a built in GPs/Astotracer and the pixel-shift technology is pretty impressive.

It seems that Duff and Slash and Axl will be playing live together again on the same stage at the same time. At the moment there has been no word on if any of the other founding members or even early members of the band will be with them. I guess we'll have to wait and see for those announcements. Mark

Is it still Coachella being talked about? (even it's name sounds horrifically American) They'll have to sue Axel for tens of millions if he's ever to be on stage in time. And even then...

Yeah, that's the one. G'n'R is the headline act on both Saturdays. There's talk of a further stadium tour later this year as well. Axl would have to have some hefty penalties in his contract to ensure on-time performances, because he's a notorious dick when it comes to being on-stage at the correct time. Mark

I use Firefox, but now every time I click an even vaguely MS link it opens in sh1tty IE. Anyone else experienced this?
It means I can't get into browser Outlook on my laptop since it now doesn't like FF (works in IE of course), yet it works fine on Android browsers.

My parents' generation told me stories, sang to me, entertained me. And now it's waving goodbye.
Given that my mum spent the weekend in hospital because of a minor procedure she had the previous Monday. She's OK, and the work done was part of an annual checkup that she's had for 15 years. Lemmy, Ed Stewart, David Bowie, all around my parents' age.

Glasses. I have a feeling I’m going to have to get some dedicated reading glasses. These varifocals are OK for normal use, but I’ve tried to give them the benefit of the doubt for reading and screen work, and they are just too much effort. I can’t see my laptop screen properly, and reading requires a lot of head movement to keep the focal zone in the right place. So I’ll be taking a pair of older frames along for reading lenses to be put in soon. I thought I’d be able to get away with just the one pair, but it seems that I’ll need the two pairs after all.
