I think I paid around 20 quid for Queen, with statup acts INXS, The Alarm and Status Quo, and that was back in 1986. So 50 quid doesn't seem that much for 30 years later.

It is the likes of the Stones that I feel are a real rip off.

If The Cult had've just given their songs a louder sound they'd have been a much bigger band IMO. All the elements are perfect, they just sound restrained in the recording.

Just no. A million times no. If you want it louder, turn the volume up, it's quite simple. When you raise the loudness level of a recording, you kill the dynamic range so everything starts to sound flat.

Lol, maybe loud isn't strictly what I mean, but the songs don't stand out despite being brilliant.

RIP Phil 'Philthy' Taylor, Motörhead's original drummer.

Quite surprising that he dies at 61 and Lemmy is still going. Just about.

How much are you talking and for who? I certainly laugh at the prices my sister pays for pop acts.
£50 for Def Leppard at the Odyss ... sorry, the SSE Arena.
I know that's not mahoosively expensive, but it's still expensive when you want two tickets.
Okay, can whoever did it make themselves known, please?

How much I want to be in bed sleeping right now, rather than starting a ten hour shift at work.

I watched the Martian at the cinema yesterday (see film review thread). It was the first 3D film I have seen since Alice in Wonderland. It was certainly a lot better, but it looks so "cheap".

They also showed the Star Wars trailer in 3D. I don't know why, but the space ship and other CGI vehicles look like cheap toy models being stuck into the scene. The 2D Star Wars trailer looks a lot more realistic, the same for the 2D trailer of the Martian, there the vehicles look like decent quality CGI vehicles, not a 15 quid RC toy being driven over a beach!

I had this problem when I went to see the HFR version of The Hobbit.

The problem is that we (and film makers) are used to seeing and making props and sets that cannot be scrutinised to the finest detail because of the blurriness and low resolution of films.

When you suddenly see super high res models at 60+ frames a second it becomes easy to see the flaws.

In the hobbit it felt like I was watching a school play. All the props. All the sets. They just looked like paper maché models made by school kids.

I've been getting a lot of doors opened for me, seats in cafes given up recently. Why? I hurt my foot a few weeks back, and while I'm waiting for the various treatments to work (they are slowly), I'm using a walking pole as walking can be painful. It seems odd to be on the receiving end of things I've done in the past for others.

Doctor says I have to wait 6 weeks, and if it doesn't clear up, I may need asteroid injection in my foot. That's bothering me too.
