So, trying to print a load of stuff. First couple of documents print fine. After that, no joy what so ever. Turn printer off and on, check I can connect to the web interface (yes I can). A bit stumped. Try the ethernet cable on the printer and it was a little bit loose. Pushed home and printing works again. Doh! I must have not plugged it in again properly when I unplugged everything recently when there was a high risk of lightning while I was at work.

Sold an item on eBay. Listing was set to appear on ebay.co.uk only, no international postage offered, UK only.
What happens? Winning bidder e-mails me to request shipping to Massachusetts. Tw@t.

I always email in advance to check this. I have bought stuff from abroad that will only ship within the US. Some will some won't. But if you do not ask you never know. I would never bid unless I knew they would deliver.

At least i have an unconditional offer from another University... if only they'd let me know when the offer expires (still no reply from their admissions department ;>).

Err.. surely if it has an expiration date then it's not 'unconditional'? Jon

Well, the offer will obviously expire when the term starts...i assume that there's an expiration date for administrative purposes as well. It's unconditional in the sense i don't have to interview or achieve any grades, or have an online test/exam they want me to do.

My telephone.
Obviously the incessant rain over the weekend finally seeped into the wallbox at some point over night, because at 4AM my phone started ringing. And didn't stop even when I answered it. Given I have a cordless phone I couldn't wait until the battery ran out in the end I had to get out of bed (at about 4.15), dig round behind furniture & etc to get to the socket, disconnect the phone's base unit and stomp back up the stairs, muttering profanities all the way.
It's not the best way to start a Monday morning.

So, as I posted in the FPOTD thread.
Last week I had an inspection by the letting agent. Passed without incident, no comments other than the house is clean and that I'd obviously been doing some gardening (I had a comment in a previous inspection about the back garden so I wasn't going to let the sods get me twice). Anyway, when I phoned the letting agent to check about the inspection they asked if there was anything about the property that needed work.
I mentioned that some of the gutters appeared to be blocked as they tended to overflow if it was raining heavily and the wind was particularly strong. Landlords responsibility (yay!). Hadn't heard anything since and went to work yesterday morning as normal. There is a budlleja (buddleia?) bush in the front garden of the house. It was in full bloom, smelled amazing (if you like the smell) and was attracting the odd butterfly as well. It was quite big but I'd made sure I kept it cut back from the pavement and from interfering with the front door. When I get back from work the buddleja has been hacked down to the level of the low wall at the front (and all put in my garden waste bin). No warning, no discussion, nothing. I get a phone call from the landlord to say he'd been round to do the gutters (good) and had I noticed he'd cut the buddleja back? (Well duh!). Apparently, some people over the road (Italian) know his mother (also Italian) so had been moaning about the buddleja bush (he said it wasn't a complaint but there had been comments).
So, people had been moaning behind my back and as a result the bush is basically gone along with all the flowers. I've never spoken to the folk across the road. At the end of the day it's the landlords plant but I can't say I'm terribly impressed to be honest. I don't like the idea of people b!tching about me behind my back essentially direct to the landlord with no opportunity to respond or discuss, especially when (in my opinion) it wasn't doing anyone any harm and was actually quite pleasant and beneficial for wildlife.

Miserable sods. We've got three buddleia bushes and they're beautiful at this time of year and great for butterflies. What kind of mean-sprited people would complain particularly if it isn't even encroaching on the path? Buddleia do recover at incredible speed however, so it will be business as usual next year.
