I absolutely categorically agree with the top two. I can probably say the number one choice has saved my life, or near to it, at least once.

clicky^^^ The list of Fry's gadgets. It has them in ascending numerical order, so No 1 is at the top. You were warned.

Too many specific models in that list rather than using a generic term. I thought they had saved themselves by listing smartphones rather than the iPhone, and then immediately went on to list the Blackberry. Aside from that some interesting surprises.
Also picture 97 looks more like a trouser press than a sandwich maker.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Indeed. I kind of thought it was a cheat to list the iPad and iPhone separately. Especially, when, in the iPads case, the 'gadget' they were actually talking about was the App Store, not the device. And the placing for the Wii was utterly ludicrous.
I want one of those apple peelers mind.

Well the iPhone is just a smart phone. Whereas the Blackberry is (apart from a rioters communication tool) is very unique in that it covered emails and in many ways is still a leader in that field. I loved that apple peeler as well. Where can I get one?

It wa probably the first 'consumer' smart phone. Previous to that they were very much business-led devices, IMO. Well 'covering emails' isn't in any way unique and wasn't even when RIM launched it. Palm devices did it donkey's years before and they had a long history of 'phone PDAs'. The big (indeed only real) USP it had was 'push' email. That was an innovation. Of course now it's an effectively ubiquitous feature. And for a while Blackberrys were fashionable. Here. 25 quid mind. There are cheaper plastic ones on Amazon, but they're not the same. Jon

I felt that quite a few things weren't gadgets but inventions in their own right.
For me, a gadget is anything that makes life easier eg electric toothbrush, shredder, etc. A TV wouldn't be a gadget in my book!
