Tonight BBC2 is showing two rarely-shown slices of post Star Wars sci-fi. At 00:35 There's Saturn 3 (1980) and at 02:00 Battle Beyond The Stars (1980). They are no masterpieces (and very much of their time), but Saturn 3 is worth watching for Hector the robot, and Battle Beyond The Stars is worth watching for Sybil Danning's Valkyrie warrior.

I really like Battle beyond the stars. Tried to find it on DVD. I could only find region 1 discs or blue ray. :x

Why oh why is Big Brother returning? I thought this turd had been well and truly flushed last year.

Quote:
According to reports, Channel 5 owner Richard Desmond has been closely involved in the preparation for the new show, even selecting contestants himself.

The media mogul, who also owns the Daily Star, the Daily Express and OK! magazine, has high hopes for Big Brother, telling the Media Guardian he wants to generate huge ratings of at least 20 million people.

20 million viewers? Surely not. More here.

Just seen a tweet

Quote:
Stephen Fry's no.1 gadget will be the life-sized robot Stephen Fry, which has been standing in for Stephen Fry for the last six years

Missed it. Anyone want to tell me?

Obviously, with the use of spoiler tags/white text/PM in the interests of those who have recorded it. ;)

They've just done the Gameboy. Somehow it's been beaten by the baby buggy!

If the Walkman doesn't get top ten it will be a travesty.

EDIT : It's a travesty!

It is pretty iconic, but he has covered scissors and staples. It is a very broad list of gadgets. Though I do wonder if Apple will get the iPod, iPhone and iPad will make the list. Though I do suspect that the Apple Lisa or IIe might make the grade.

I'm loving the soundtrack to this show. However if Microsoft kinetic beats the Walkman, the mobile phone and the VCR there will be... trouble.
