Cats woke me up at 4am. Apparently rain means they can't jump from the conservatory roof to the open window of the bathroom

Crappy club politics. Without going into too much detail, a couple of people have let a situation develop and fester, and both seem to be suddenly unavailable or wanting to leave and give up their responsibilities. This leaves myself and someone else basically in a position where we’ll need to get more committee members AND deal with a potential oncoming sh!tstorm.

I am not happy, and have told them to bloody well sort the problem out before clearing off. I’ve been blunt - I have to.It seems that there are a lot of people who seem to need to be spoken to in a blunt kind of way.

The realisation of why movies are boring me to tears these days.

I could tell straight away he was writing that article in a forced structural way, not a very natural feel, but kept me interested. In the end, if they've found a way to keep humans entertained for 2 hours, then they've done their job, don't blame the structure, blame human psychology.

I blame children with disposable income and their parents. Oh, and those people who keep watching bollocks horror films.

And whoever's keeping Ryan Gosling in boring-ass 'thrillers'.

And...

I'd love to know when that book or it's effect has been deployed when, say, the studio has interfered, or there's had to be reshoots. And just consider how often they merge three scripts together now and have four producers overseeing it

This is not a new theory or structure, it's just a derivitave of a very well established theory ...
Check out Todorov's theory of narrative for a little more depth on this subject.

Just had a chat with a drunk Guns N Roses fan in the park who was telling me he's been thinking of getting their logo done as a tattoo. I have to stop wearing these black t-shirts...

Just how often I've seen ambulances putting their lights and sirens on recently purely to cut through traffic. It's a bit obvious when they start up three quarters along a motorway

From what I've seen after a couple of runs in them recently, they don't have them on all the time when they've got a patient in them, just when required.

They have two-way radios - don't they get diverted occasionally if they are nearest responder to a priority call?

You'd hope so. I think the regs on when they can use them (they're a bit of an attention diverter after all) in traffic.
I know they often don't use the sirens with a patient on board to avoid causing more stress for the patient, especially with heart conditions.

Something else to bear in mind with any vehicle on lights/sirens, is that if there is an incident, they are automatically classed as being in the wrong. It's a bonkers state of affairs.
