I don't know Apples, and I'm pretty rubbish at Linux - but you should be able to type a text file directly into a file from the terminal.
On windows or DOS, you'd type:
copy con custom.css
but on Unix, I think you use a cat. It seemed rather fitting for our furry forum friend.

TextEdit worked fine for me, you just need to use the plain text option. I think I prefer the bigger boxes though!

Mine just says "custom" in the style sheet combo box but the icon is the css file icon?
Still doesn't work though.
Do I need to reset or something?

Text edit had put more meta text around the brackets and stuff. I copied and pasted into dashcode again and it worked

Shouldn't have to. Mine changes at pretty much the instant you change the option - you don't even have to refresh the page.
Edit: You need to use plain text in TextEdit.

Well you see I did not realise a CSS was a text file. There are several ways to have text on the Mac. The built in TextEdit is the one I know most about. CC

I think you can save to any format with TextEdit. You need to remove all formatting from the document using "Format" > "Make Plain Text" and then save the file using "File" > "Save As..." ensuring you use the correct CSS extension. Peter.
