Having had some time to reflect, I can honestly say that I did not particularly enjoy the last episode. It just seemed... strange.

Generally good yes. The whole 'hidden street' thing is a bit derivative and they overplayed the death scene just a touch too much but overall it had some interesting ideas and was well scripted and acted, which is all you can really ask for. Capaldi particularly did a very good job.
