I'll make a note of that one for future reference. I stood in front of him glaring but he didn't look up. Luckily a seat became vacant shortly after so I sat down and got stuck in to the Dragon book.

Better still if he's already got a phone or lappy out...

I think that's a terrible slur against the deeply professional and hard working people in IT departments round the country! <catches sight of post count> <smiles nervously, exits>

Blame feminism. You can't moan about gender inequality and then expect men to put women first.

You can blame want you want but I'd say it was good manners to let someone take a seat on the train and not push past them to get there first no matter what sex you are. I'd actually stepped back to see what he would do so really it's my fault as I should've just shoved my way through and sat down.

Shove something up your coat and use the "Can't you see I'm pregnant?" gambit.

Jon I don't have to. I get offered seats occasionally and I'm not pregnant. Maybe I just have the grumpy look of a pregnant woman having to stand on tube

I have to agree – there is pushing and then pushing. On my daily commute its 1st come 1st served as far as I am concerned (disabled and heavily pregnant excluded). I will make a bee line for any seat and if I get there before anyone else then that’s a win and a good start / end to the day. I will not however barge someone out of the way to get there first irrespective of gender. In normal life (i.e. outside of the commute) I am always happy to open doors etc
