I've just added those two films to my IMDB watchlist.

This is a monumental failing to understand what Logan's Run is actually about.
Marketing it to the young adult audience is like marketing a slaughter house to cattle.

But he's not kidding about LR sharing a bit of a theme with them - the recent YA movies are all about segregated youth and coming of age in a hostile environment.

Today, the young adult sci-fi stuff is (as you rightly say) all about isolated individuals from society coming together, banding together under the common goal of rising up and overthrowing an oppressive regime of some description.
Logan's Run is an allegory about the danger and uncertainty of youth culture towards itself.
The youth culture in Logan's Run was broken, it was all about the hedonism, live fast and die young, consequences be damned.
I guess it took the live fast and die youg too literally - though the film increased the age of Carousel from 21 to 30, it was all about the self-destruction of youth upon itself, something the likes of The Hunger Games is most certainly not about.

As an aside, why is Netflix being singled out as not TV? *shrug*
Are you familiar with what Kilgrave actually did to the Jessica Jones character in the Alias comic? I can't imagine that a character like that would move in to the Avengers films as they currently stand.
They'd have to be pushing a 15cert at least, I would think.

I know next to nothing about Jones or any of the onscreen 'Defenders' bar Daredevil.

You're a terrible man! I shall read that once I've watched the show and quite possibly read all the comics (there's a damn sale on n'all).

There's a lot been written just recently on the backstory between Jessica and The Purple Man thanks to this Netflix show.
It's a seriously abusive relationship.
