That's interesting casting.
I like the person that's picked, though I think I've only seen him in Son of Rambow and We're the Millers.
I hope we don't get the full backstory of the character though. Part of the impact the mini-series had was we didn't really have any motivation for the character to do what it was doing. I hope that doesn't change with this adaptation.

Whedon's scene is actually a necessity for everything that comes next, whereas the others stick out like a sore thumb and are really about setting up the next movies and wider universe. And there was already too much previous history burdening the film before then.

That interlinking didn't work so well when you had Joss Whedon for Avengers 2, so I hope the excellent directors of Cap 2 can do better. Civil War's plot calls for it by necessity, but Marvel needs to calm down with the inter-franchise-building or wind up like Sony with Spider-Man. You know, the company they've been advising on such matters?

I'd make a point to catch it if you can.
It is very much in the tradition of An American Warewolf in London (only without Jenny Agutter).
It spawned an entire series of sequels, which I suspect this remake won't do.
