That's interesting casting.
I like the person that's picked, though I think I've only seen him in Son of Rambow and We're the Millers.
I hope we don't get the full backstory of the character though. Part of the impact the mini-series had was we didn't really have any motivation for the character to do what it was doing. I hope that doesn't change with this adaptation.

I've seen him in loads of things now, he's a really good actor, adept at whatever the scene calls for.

Joss Whedon on Fighting With Marvel Over 'Avengers: Age of Ultron': "It Got Really, Really Unpleasant" - spoilers
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-v ... ron-793502

Whedon's scene is actually a necessity for everything that comes next, whereas the others stick out like a sore thumb and are really about setting up the next movies and wider universe. And there was already too much previous history burdening the film before then.

That interlinking didn't work so well when you had Joss Whedon for Avengers 2, so I hope the excellent directors of Cap 2 can do better. Civil War's plot calls for it by necessity, but Marvel needs to calm down with the inter-franchise-building or wind up like Sony with Spider-Man. You know, the company they've been advising on such matters?

Martin Freeman Joins 'Captain America: Civil War' — Latino-Review.com
http://www.latino-review.com/news/marti ... -civil-war

Hmmm. Wonder if it's linked to Cumberbatch's role as Strange, or would that be too on the nose. I fully expect nearly every Marvel cast member going, after what Evans' said.

I was starting to think the average film cost $55m tbh.... certainly didn't think it had been enough of a hit, but that's where the bean counters come in.

I'd make a point to catch it if you can.
It is very much in the tradition of An American Warewolf in London (only without Jenny Agutter).
It spawned an entire series of sequels, which I suspect this remake won't do.

I haven't seen any of these films, and one of these days, I'm going to sit down and watch them all back-to-back.
