Oh for the love of God stop with the overly-emotional pseudo-patriotic claptrap and get on with it already!

BTW, am I the only one who thought Xtina Aguilera was crap?

[Edit] Good call GB - I always preferred to kick first. But that's probably because I was a nose tackle and just wanted to get going.

I have never been impressed with any of those that they pick in previous Superbowls.

Ok, never watched American football before so I wiki'd the rules before hand and knew what was going on.

But what do they mean when they say things like 2nd and 5 or 1st and 10.

I guessed it was the down they were on and the distance moved but that does t make sense for 1st?

Love this game though. Will def try to watch more in the future!

Nearly right.

It's the downs used followed by the distance needed to get the next 1st down.

E.g. if it's 1st & 10, the offence still has to move 10 yards to get another first down but they have 4 downs in which to do it. 3rd & 5 means two downs used and 5 yards left to go till the next 1st down.

You may hear 4th & inches - that means that the previous down almost got to 10 yards but was just short. You may also hear 1st & Goal; fairly obviously this means that the ball is less than 10 yards from the goal line and, hence, less than ten yards from a touchdown.

Did this help?

That was woeful defending - I wouldn't want to be that linebacker right now.

Dude, that's all part of it!

Half-time show was not the best ever, but it was better than the Steelers offence. RUN THE FOOTBALL FFS!!

Well next season try and watch the BBc or Channel 5 showings. The expert Mike Carlson is on which ever channel gets the contract, He explains it so well.

I know but I just want games to start - a hangover from playing I suppose.
