Bear with me on this one...

Friday night, I got into one of those lunatic vaguely drunken conversations around the pub table. This was - 'which is/was the sexiest Spice Girl?'

I have to admit I had a bit of a soft spot for Emma Bunton for a while but I had no real strong opinion. They are all pretty presentable or they wouldn't have ended up being megastars. General consensus seemed to be that, when they were the Spice Girls, Scarey was the one who 'did it' for most of the people round the table, both male and female. One member of our group however made a long rather involved statement that Ginger spice, in between the time she was in the spice girls (when she was a bit 'overly loud bar maid') and when she went a bit mad and started eating only dry seeds and bark and ended up looking like a long distance runner (which really isn't a look most men go for ladies, being honest) she was, in fact, incredibly hot. This got roundly scoffed at by everyone else, mostly on the basis that, well, she's ginger. And horrendously loud. And she has a laugh which can curdle milk at 20 feet. And she thinks she's an author. And, well, you get the point.

Anyway, obviously said friend took it a bit to heart because this evening I received an email from him entitled 'told you so' . This contained a link to the youtube copy of one of her early solo videos after leaving the musical and merchandising juggernaut that was 'the spice' and the following picture, which is a still frame from said video...



You have to say, it's a strong argument... You have to admit she was, in that video, in fantastic shape. Dunno what she's like now though. I'd imagine she's still way too loud.

I was in my early teens when the Spice Girls came out and I was immediately drawn to Geri Halliwell. I always thought Victoria was too thin, hated the Mels. Emma Bunton came close. I think their second music video when they were wearing tight black clothing is what did it for me.
