Missus and I went out for lunch. Neither had realised it's halfterm. Cue lots of kids everywhere in the local shopping centre and it being lunchtime, there were queues of kids or parents and kids everywhere.

Seriously guys! Who cares about Top Gear anymore? Just watch something else if you don't like it.

It's not going to be Top Gear of old and you either like the new presenters or you don't.

Somthing else on a Sunday? That could be tricky, not everybody is able/willing to pay for Netflix etc, but TG costs quite a bit of relative licence money.

The problem is TG at it's best was some of the best TV in decades.

Here's a thing: you could turn off the TV and go do something more interesting instead?

Of course you could, but there's no reason for TV to be that crap either lol. Especially these days.

Fox apologises for X-Men billboards showing Jennifer Lawrence being strangled | Film | The Guardian

Oh, do fcuk off.

Where do you want to start? That's it's a legitimate scene from the film? That if it was a bloke being strangled nobody would give a sh1t?

It also works for a legitimate scale POV - there's a bloody good reason that Predator strangling Arnie was so big

Fox will be glad of the controversy, they'll need it.

I agree with the standpoint that casual violence against women is not a legitimate way of marketing a film.
You said "That if it was a bloke being strangled nobody would give a sh1t?" no, they probably wouldn't, and I really hope I don't need to outline why.
Using any sort of violence to promote anything shouldn't really be happening, if it's a film of over two hours long then there has to be other stills/scenes that can be used by the marketing dept. to push the film.

It only matters that it's a woman because of recent political discourse, something I have no problem with incidentally. It's one that desperately needs to happen. But this is a film poster depicting fictional characters. Even getting into that, the whole point of it IMO is to show Apocalypse as a towering psycho who can take on even the most powerful mutants like Mystique. It could just as easily have been Prof. X lifted out of his chair. I seriously doubt that would have caused a petty internet pile-in though - more likely a bunch of memes.

On the issue of violence and it's promotion, again, for me it's a fantasy sci-fi film, that's what you're gonna get. I mean the guy's called Apocalypse :)

Personally, I've never been bothered much by arbitrary targets defined by people I don't have any great knowledge of.

It's a tool by a company that has a bit of knowledge regarding website performance.

Clearly the tool has wrinkles that need to be ironed out, because I just got the same results as above again.

Just tried it now and got:

74/100
100/100
100/100

Respectively.
The was from my iPad. Not overly convinced this is really telling you anything meaningful about the site, more about time of day and server load.
