Can somebody please explain to me how an internal 2TB HDD can be more expensive than a 2TB HDD in an enclosure?

Mark

I was going to say that the internal one would have a faster spindle speed (and so faster access times, r/w speeds), but it seems that the external one is actually the faster of the two :?

My only guess now would be that the internal is SATA3 (6Gbps) while the external is based on SATA2 (3Gbps) behind the USB interface, but that doesn't make much of a difference with mechanical drives. My 6 month old 2TB Seagate only just breaks SATA1(1.5Gbps) speeds

I've just bought something off egay and turns out the seller lives nearby. So much so that it's probably be quicker for her to drop it off than to go to the local post office to send it.

It's just arrived and came in Amazon packaging with an amazon.co.uk invoice (no price details).

In 3D printing news:
http://gizmodo.com/5959717/skyfall-filmmakers-3d+printed-this-rare-aston-martin-so-they-wouldnt-damage-the-original - Skyfall's effects team built their own. 1/13th the size, but still cool.

You know I'm really rather relieved to read that. I wasn't quite sure what they'd done when I watched the film.

The effects crew modelmakers called on a company called Voxeljet, who used a massive 3D printer with a capacity of 283 cubic feet to reproduce three 1:3 scale models of the Aston Martin.

So what did they do about the 1:3 scale James Bond?

I don't know why, but it's been that way for a while.

+1

That was more traumatising than the exit of Judi Dench. I rather liked her as M.
