I looked into speech recognition software for our workplace for when the typist retires. Had a fancy demonstration etc. Cost was £2200 or so for one person. Broken down that was £1000 for the software, £150 for the handheld microphone, £600 on training and the rest on VAT. I thought "Bet I could get the software for cheaper". Had a look around and the medical version of Dragon retails for £1000 minimum!  _________________ He fights for the users.

you do realise speech recognition has been built in to WIndows for around 10 years don't you? It's not perfect but it's pretty good.

Yup. Worse still, if I bought the premium version, they've set it so it crashes/doesn't work if there any clinical systems open at the same time. They really have a monopoly on this.
