I have just been given my first "must have" application for the iPad.

This could be really cool for games. As a sometimes chess player this would be great for me.

Board games would be fun, but I think that one use for me will be as a TV guide using the web to keep up to date.

An iPad version of Tioti TV+ would absolutely rock. It'd be easier to use and nicer looking than the EPG on my Sky+ box for a start.

I would use the browser and http://www.tvguide.co.uk/ as a guide.

I've just been playing with some remote control apps for media centre, my mac & home automation on the iphone. The ipad would rock as a big remote.
Time to put one on pre order methinks (and learn how to program apps for it)

The real missing feature is a front camera and mic. It would be great as a Skype phone, there is already the app even if restricted to wifi that would be another great use for it. Much more portable than an laptop. Though I expect that will come in a later version.

Where's the fun in playing board games by yourself on the phone rather than on a board with other people?

I just installed a chess game on miPhone that allows you to play against other people on the 'net and I get a lot of fun out of that.

That's nice (better than Sky's online guide for example) but the likes of Tioti can cache a weeks TV schedules on the device and are thus a bit quicker when you're scrolling round. Plus Tioti can send record instructions direct to my Sky+ box. Although being able to add them to iCal as that website can would also be handy. Maybe I'll suggest that to the Tioti developers...

It has a mike and speaker - full spec here. iSight camera to follow in a later version, I'm sure...

And yes, it's for me and I have the cash burning a hole in my pocket ;)

I don't see it. Don't you use this on your lap? The view of your face from down there will be less than flattering.
