My last 3 phones have had that capability, but I've never used it...

To replace or supplement your HTC?

To replace the htc and the iPod Touch... The htc is a nice little 'phone, or was... But it is starting to throw wobblies! 50% of the time, it will reject the call when I press accept or try and take out of my pocket. Other times, it will answer the call without ringing, so I walk around with voices yelling out of my pocket! For non-phone use, it is good, but the displaying of the two buttons on the screen when it rings just doesn't work, when the 'phone isn't sitting on a desk. It seems to be getting worse and I have noticed it more, because I moving around a lot more with my new job. The problem last year was, what the iPhone did, it did generally a bit better than the Touch Pro (plus I wanted the fallback of a real keyboard), but the iPhone didn't have all of the functionality I needed as "basic" features. The new version 3.0 of the software has addressed 99.9% of those issues and the iPod Touch is much simpler to use for calendar and contact information than the htc... Now they have gouged the early adopters and used them as guiena pigs, the iPhone is maturing nicely as a platform...

I'm glad my phone has a hardware answer/reject button
The 6.5 slide to answer/reject could be dodgy though lol

Mine has the hardware buttons as well... Just the lining material of my pocket has usually made the descision for me, before I can see who is calling!

Temporarily hijacking the thread, how does the iphone cope with: - editing word/excel documents on the fly - reading PDFs - diary functions - bluetoothing files - pedestrian GPS?
Have a colleague who says he has issues with the above, which would sway me away from the iphone.

Very limited support for Microsoft Office files. The standard operating system can read files, however is unable to edit them. I do recall an editing application available, but it was expensive. It can read PDF files without a problem whatsoever. You can use the usual gestures to zoom in and select text. The Calendar application is quite good and allows up to two reminders of appointments, however various applications are available to add additional features to this. Not possible at the moment, unless you jailbreak the device. Google Maps now allows "Walking" directions, so paired with the GPS chip, it works quite well. Navman have recently released turn-by-turn satellite navigation, but I think this only supports vehicles at the moment. Peter.

You have got to be kidding? Well, I know you're being serious - but seriously, that's absolutely retarded! I thought the new version was supposed to be "fixed" Can you at least use bluetooth to send contacts now, like every other BT enabled phone on the planet, or would you be the only person at the table having to type them in manually?

No, you still can't actually send anything by Bluetooth, expect audio to a headset or handsfree kit. Some applications allow contacts to be sent over wi-fi, but both devices have to be an iPhone or iPod Touch. Peter.

There is supposed to be a sweet little app where you "bump" contacts with somebody else, bump your iPhone against another iPhone and it will pass selected information across - usually your own details, I think. Must admit, apart from BT headsets, I've never found a use for BT. There are a couple of apps out there for editing Office documents (the most expensive I saw was $19.99. Again, I've read a few docs on my htc, but apart from the odd OneNote, I've not written anything. The Calendar app seems much easier to use than the one built into Windows Mobile. Same for contacts, the iPhone version just works, the WM version seems a little clunky. Especially when reading contact details, the WM version on my htc, I tend to have to edit the flaming thing to read an address...
