I stopped using the Atomium when I left Brussels. It’s also illegal, apparently:

Check out footnote 4, it’s exceedingly authoritative ;) And no, I didn’t put it there myself.

As just mentioned elsewhere, it's good to have you back posting here, Simon.
Sad news about your split with MU, but I saw your tweets on the matter and there's no need going over old ground.
Welcome back.

everyone is fooled by the "socks" avatar, look VERY carefully and you will see in the middle of the picture is a ceramic vase with a funky 1960s wallpaper in the backround

I see no "socks" :x

There's one of those "scent dispensers" advertised on TV at the moment that reminds my wife of a naked woman's torso. ( I forget which one.)

EDIT

This one.

This is the case where photographs are taken by private individuals and shown on private websites for no commercial purpose (the current trend for photo albums), as long as these pictures are displayed at a low resolution (600 pixels maximum, resolution of 72dpi) to avoid abusive usage and downloads.

http://www.atomium.be/Search.aspx?searc ... ights.aspx

Belgian law has no “right of panorama” - every building is protected by the same laws that protect the Atomium. It’s up the the copyright holder to assert that copyright should they choose. Effectively, unlike in this country, you don’t have the right to stand in a public space and take a photo of a building and then reproduce it without first getting permission from the copyright holder. This is more likely to hit you if you are using the image commercially, but the web makes a but of a murky mess of it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panoramafreiheit
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commo ... ma#Belgium

You do have to wonder what the Atomium lot are up to. On one hand, they lock down copyright like this, on the other hand they asked me for permission to use one of my Atomium pictures on their website once. This one:

The Atomium by hairydalek, on Flickr

I think they ask a lot of people this question. They haven’t sued, so bullet dodged :D
