If the makers of the Marvel films ever were looking at dragging in Johnny Depp, I have a feeling the performances of Dark Shadows and The Lone Ranger may have made them think again.
I'd like to say that, for the record, The Lone Ranger film wasn't actually all that bad, in my opinion.

Haven't seen it so I couldn't say, but between them they've definitely killed the notion that Johnny Depp's name on the billboard guarantees bums on seats.

Paul Greengrass to write and direct an adaptation of the spy novel, THE DIRECTOR!

Haven't read any of the books but Ridley Scott certainly made a decent film with Body of Lies.

I'm hearing many good things coming out of The Sundance Film Festival concerning Calvary.
The Guard is a fantastic film, so I'll try and catch this new one at the cinema if possible.

Actually China has so much history that it could use as the backdrop for any number of films. In fact a series of films based on Qi Shi Huang would be good if done along the same lines as Kagemusha.

Quentin Tarantino will not direct western ‘Hateful Eight’ as his next film
Writing a script is no easy task, so to have your work prematurely made accessible like that has got to hurt.
