I used to do Tai Chi, you'd think moving slowly was a piece of piss but TBH it's one of the most strenuous activities I've done.

jonbwfc I was behind her in a queue today - but I wouldn't describe it as 'bushy'.

I've never sat down and worked out the biophysics of it but I'd definitely say that the soft martial arts like Tai Chi seem to be more physically strenuous than the hard martial arts I've tried. Much more demanding than Wing Chun for example, even though you seem to do much less. I suspect it's simply the case that your body 'cheats' when moving quicky - for example walking is actually a controlled form of falling over - whereas in slow movement there are no shortcuts and gravity is working against you all the time.

I can only assume the night cook is half Scottish, half Yorkshireman. There's no other way to explain haggis and potato pie.

Turns out my 2 year old really likes taking photos. She uses my X10 but after a couple of scratches I'm thinking letting her loose with a £400 camera isn't the best idea. I love looking at her photos though and getting a child's eye view of the world. She's started using the camera on her Mum's Blackberry now too. It's amazing to see her take photos of things that interest her. Last night she placed her milk cup next to her half eaten biscuit and took a photo of that, even moving the camera around to frame the shot better. She's doing it without any input from anyone and I find it hilarious and amazing in equal measure.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

There is still hope as long as she doesn't learn HDR.

It's our one year anniversary tomorrow. I'm going to leave the house for work but rather than actually go (I've secretly booked the day off) I'm going to pick up some flowers and nice breakfast and return home.

Argh! Damned Americans, breaking our language!

It's your first anniversary. The word anniversary comes from the French and includes the word for year. Saying "one year anniversary" is a tautology, like "reverse back".

Congratulations, by the way! ;)

Ya think?

Actually, I was wrong. It's not from the French. It comes from Middle English and Latin: Middle English: from Latin anniversarius ‘returning yearly,’ from annus ‘year’ + versus ‘turning.’
