Latest FIA technical clampdown 'set to impact all teams' < clicky

Quote:
But on the eve of this weekend’s race, it has now emerged that the governing body has written to the grid’s 12 teams again to outline a further regulation change for Valencia onwards which will end the practice of teams using more extreme engine mapping settings for qualifying only.

...With immediate effect, it will no longer be possible to reprogram the ECU configuration between qualifying and the race in the expectation that this will discourage extreme ECU [Electronic Control Unit] setups for qualifying - previously electronic access to the ECU under parc fermé conditions had been explicitly permitted.

Hmm, interesting... wonder if that'll affect Red Bull as much as some think it will?

Surely the horse has pretty much bolted this season though?

Well, yes, it will be a tall order - but we're only at about half stage of the season so it's technically possible I suppose. Stranger things have happened, but I tend to agree that it's Vettel's to lose. We've seen him make a few mistakes under pressure, but I doubt the others can pile the pressure on consistently for the rest of the races.

Just been to the cinema to watch Senna, amazing documentary and highly recommended.

Some very good early 80's F1 footage

Getting rid of some of the buttons and dials on the steering wheel (if you can call it that) would be a good thing. I've never liked that they can change fuel, engine and brake settings during the race. By all means set your engine for more power for qualifying if you want, but then be stuck with that setting for the race and if it blows up then so be it.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Rosberg's top five races.

Thought these two were interesting...
Quote:
The 1997 European Grand Prix, when Schumacher notoriously - and unsuccessfully - tried to take out Jacques Villeneuve's Williams as they were battling for the world title at the final race of the season.

The 2000 Belgian Grand Prix, featuring the famous all-time classic overtaking move by McLaren's Mika Hakkinen on Schumacher.

Ya think he's having a slight dig, with all the attention on Schumacher's drive in Canada?

That 2008 replay still had me on the edge of my seat.

One of my favourites.

I missed most of the 2008 season as I was working on boats, so although I knew about the premature Ferrari celebrations I have only just seen a video clip of it. Wanting to see a little more rather than just the BBC's offerings I found this clip with added headbutt.

A four cyliner 1.6 litre engine sounds more like a focus than a F1 car. although a 750 horse power focus would be fun to play with.

Well, after the thrills of Canada, that race almost sent me to sleep. Very boring.

Aye very mediocre, there was racing but not much overtaking. The highlight for me was Button passing Rosberg in the very early stages.
