I managed to watch the very start of the race in work, but it stopped before I went home and I still managed to watch a program on the recorder before the race got underway again

Rain certainly does make things interesting, with one of the most exciting, and certainly one of the most controversy-filled, races of the year.

Jensen's performance was nothing short of outstanding, despite the two unfortunate incidents, but is it just me, or was Martin Brundle always one stop behind Jensen's actual pit-lane forays?

When Jensen had done four stops and a drive-through, Martin was saying that he had been through four times including a drive-through and so this went on until Martin said that he had been through the pits six times, although according to the readouts he had made six actual stops AND a drive-through.

It was interesting to see Vettel make a mistake at the end, which might indicate that he is not used to pressure- this season at least. With so much fuel in the car, he should have tried to open a bigger lead- especially as he should have been able to stay on the racing line the entire time.

It was said at the end of the race that everyone was probably a little disappointed for Mickey the Shoe and I have to admit that I thought it a shame that he didn't finally get a podium finish, but what about Kobayashi?!?!? I thought that they might bring him in a lap later than Vettel so that they could say that he had actually lead a GP, but he could even have ended up in front after his stop. Who knows?

One last thing. How do you pronounce Vettel? Martin is always VETtel and David is always VetTEL, but strangely enough, with Adrian Sutil, they appeared to be the other way around. :?

Going by David's pronunciation of Heidfeld (i.e. Heidfield) I'll stick with whatever Martin says.

I'm sure Dave could tell us, but I think the V is pronounced like an F", so more like "Fettel" - if you're German.

Yeah, I've heard Germans pronouncing it with an F, it sounds more like "Fettle".

As far as Heidfeld goes, DC says "I just call him Nick"

I think Brundle and Couthard get my vote for commentators of the year with that mammoth filling in session. This site's always got some great quotes in, but Canada's race produced some corkers...

Nice find, thanks for sharing.

If I wore a hat I'd take it off to MB and DC for their filler commentary, without it the delays would have been unbearable. As I've said before, they are the best commentary team I can remember in the thirty-something years I've been a fan of the sport.

Nope, they switched to BBC2 at about 9pm ish, so it's a safe bet you only got the first 30-odd laps.

Both parts are still available on iplayer though - I watched the second half again the other night, and was still on the edge of my seat; despite knowing the result. That's how engrossing it is.

Just watched the race. The racing after the red flag period was epic. Well done to Button for the win. To top it off he gets to celebrate with Jessica Michibata. Best Sunday ever for him.

Well they can't be expected to do F1 and Dr. Who, can they?

I suspect that Sky Sports will take it over and no one will see it.

Times = Murdoch. Not exactly likely to be entirely objective about the BBC, IMO. Wait and see if it happens.
