Brother coming over to visit... Talked him out of coming over on his Hardley Ableson, still too cold and wet here, although it is supposed to be warming up for the weekend. So he'll be coming in his new BMW, showoff!

Lined up some test drives for next week, looking for a new car.

The Mondeo is just too long for my new job and sitting in traffic isn't comfortable, so looking for something a bit shorter, comfortable, economical and, preferably, automatic. Had a look at Fiat 500, looks fun, but very poor quality. Then we looked at Toyota, the Auris is very nice and the Verso is very comfortable and we will take a Prius for a spin, they fascinate me - and being stuck in traffic every morning, it would have advantages.

Then we have a test in the Honda Insight. Looking also at a Scenic. Discounting the Touran, it just looks so dated and van like...

Anybody else got any recommendations. Will be looking at nearly new vehicles.

BMW 118d? Not too big, nice & comfy & great fuel economy (with low CO2)

You might want to have a look at the Citroen C3. I've had two and I like them.

Yes it is, but on a slightly more serious note, it's also inexpensive to insure, (and to buy) and it's cheap to run and reliable.

It's also good at short and long trips, and... well, put it this way. I finish paying for mine in October and have decided that I'll be keeping it for the forseeable future, as I don't actually need a new car and the one I have is actually really nice.

:D

Hmmn, French car & reliable.

I call "bullsh1t" ;)
You mean it hasn't broken yet. French car & trips to the garage are usually like the first piss on a night out. Once you've been once it'll happen every 15 mins

I've been letting Firefox do updates for ages, but it's been getting sluggish recently. One clean install + add-ons later and it's nice and nippy again. They need to improve the auto updater if it's causing performance issues like that.

Obviously my cookie lists have been cleared. I allow them on a site by site basis. Who's avatars are hosted by image shack? They keep trying to set cookies on my PC for no reason.
EDIT
Plus some Mac site too.

I've had one as well and had no issues at all for the 3 years I owned it, nice reliable little car very comfy for long distances (and I did a lot of those) got a bit of poke for driving in town and economical on fuel, cheap to insure and tax!!

Win-Win

I've been driving French cars, (2 C3s) since 2005 and Mrs. V is now on her third Picasso in almost 8 years, (trade ins to higher spec's, not due to problems) and aside from replacing a couple of fuses we've not had any problems with them.

True story!

So 2 Citroens in 5 years.......

Must be reliable ;)

I'll stick to my 13 year old Honda, unlike the french cars you don't have to take the wheel off to replace a bulb :)
