Well stop telling him and both of you watch Horizon "Eat, Fast and Live Longer".

Then if he wants to ignore the calorie thing and he's REALLY up for some lifestyle changes to achieve what he wants - Four Hour Body, by Tim Ferris.

I've been at around 3g of sat fat a day for the last 6 months, it's not easy!

After seeing the hairy ones my bloke now wants to loose weight. He thinks skipping meals is a good way but I've tried telling him!

Counting calories and moving more - any other tips?

Sort of depends on what works for him, if he's never done it before then he'll need to find what his body needs. For me, calorie counting doesn't work, keeping fat and sat fat right down, cutting carbs right down (I don't need the warmth) has done far more for me with the amount of exercise I'm doing at the moment because I still need the calories for the energy to do the exercise.

One of the things I hear time and again from people who are only about the calories is their lack of energy, forcing themselves to do exercise, but hating it because they're shattered. I've been playing squash twice a week, Aero-Tone and Zumba once a week, swimming once a week and I've been doing crunches/sit-ups etc 3 times a week and starting running (not far) once a week. I've been doing all of this since Feb and I'm convinced the only reason I haven't got bored or exhausted is because it's the fat that's lower, not the calories.

What works for one person doesn't necessarily for another which is why I despise diet books that lay down the law, getting more exercise is a standard and he may find that if he cuts down on the carbs and gets more exercise, the weight will start shifting without any specific dieting.

The car snapped a belt on the way home - the belt for the fan, AC, power steering and alternator.

To make matters worse, it went with enough force to pull out the alternator shaft a full inch, and wreck the bearing. :x

ffs

I watched Rocky II last night and the training montage always makes me feel pumped and ready to beat some people up.
