When I was renting, I just had it installed without telling my landlord, it will add to the value of the property, if he gives a [LIFTED], then he can sue me. He didn't, I'm not sure he noticed.

I can't really see how he could sue. If you're paying the bill, you're in charge, surely?

I guess that the only problem is if another tenant wants cheap broadband, but I guess once they have fibre they will not want to go back to broadband.

The fibre provides the broadband. (8+\

Bloody letting agents. I wrote to mine for permission to get fibre broadband installed (as they will stick in an openreach modem).
Nothing. They have apparently lost or eaten my letter or filed it in the bin so in the end I phoned the landlord directly instead.

Parasites!

Since when do you have to tell your landlord/letting agent who you want to use for your internet?!

When I rented in Woking, I had cable and if I wanted to switch to, I had to inform the landlord that the cable was going to be cut off and a new hole in the Wall a new connection laid on.

I was just letting the landlord/letting agent know that openreach would be mounting a modem on the wall. Who I get my broadband from is my business.

The street cabinet variety yes. Full fibre not quite but it should quadruple the download speed I can get. I suspect I could get faster if the last bit of cable from the telegraph pole to the master socket wasn't ancient and buried behind some god awful stone cladding but hey ho. Could get Virgin Media as well but my brother has that and hasn't been overly impressed with the reliability.

What really annoyed me about virgin was that unless you have their top package you have a cap.

No they don't. I'm on the basic internet, phone and telly combo and I'm not capped. They specifically pointed that out when we updated the package.

*strokes new 32mbps download speed*

I'm on Virgin's basic internet, phone and telly combo and according to speedtest.net I've got a download speed of 10.27 Mbps and an upload of 1.13 Mbps. That's basic :) :?

;)

It's not what you know but who. We've been a customer for some time, and just added phone and telly to the 20mbps cable internet. I think they had a deal going on, as we're saving on internet + BT that we had before. 8-)

The speed was not an issue it was that they had a data cap during the day. I could hit that cap by 10 am.

Writtle school forgets time capsule location

Quote:
A school was unable to open a time capsule in time for its 50th anniversary because no one could remember where it was buried.

The plastic ice-cream tub was originally placed in the garden of Writtle Junior School, near Chelmsford, 25 years ago.

But teachers now think it may have been removed from its original burial place.
