Ah - right - I turned up, explained who I was and was told that my services weren't required as the other photographer had it all in hand.
I showed them the booking confirmation email, and was told to go ahead and send in the invoice anyway.
Which I did, and they honoured it.

Basically, they're not very efficient, effective or organised, but they're swimming in cash. So I like to work for them if I can; they seem to like what I've done in the past.

Going to show for the next 3 days. The guy organizing our stand came into the office at 6 yesterday evening to test all the stuff we need, only to find out that half of it wasn't there or didn't work! Finally got home at 8:30 last night, after sorting out all the problems, he is picking me up at 5:30!

I've now worked 33 twelve hour shifts since the start off September..... and now the bastards are talking about extending my current work trip in Aberdeen by a few more days.
Also there's serious issues getting my time sheet entered so I can get paid for it now I've moved departments.

I've got two words for that idea, and the second one's 'off'.

BBC Fail!
I just went to bbc.co.uk.
There way a link to a BBC story about the DC-3 still flying after 70 years.
This is what I got.
Quote:
BBC Worldwide (International Site)We're sorry but this site is not accessible from the UK as it is part of our international service and is not funded by the licence fee. It is run commercially by BBC Worldwide, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the BBC, the profits made from it go back to BBC programme-makers to help fund great new BBC programmes. You can find out more about BBC Worldwide and its digital activities at http://www.bbcworldwide.com.
.

Why put the bloody link on your .co.uk homepage then????
Idiots.

OK I am a total plonker

In the Ranting Thread a week or so ago I posted about losing / having stolen my wallet with all my cards, D/L etc (and it has not turned up)

Anyway in the rush to inform the 101 different organisation I managed to get caught out in a scam

My (only) excuse is that it was latish when I noticed I had lost my cards and wanted to inform everyone asap and get a note added to my Credit File so no one could use my ID to get loans etc out.

While replacing my Driving Licence I went to a web site that looked just like the DVLA site which I now know for a fee basically just print the DVLA form and send it to you to forward on to the DVLA. It’s a scam but it’s a legal scam. https://www.drivinglicence.uk.com/ I see that they have upped the web site slightly with a bit more info at the bottom.

Actually if they had been a little less greedy they would never have alerted me. Its when they sent the DVLA form to me, all completed for a signature and asked for an extra £20 that I twigged. If they had just sent the form and asked me to sign and return it I would have just thought “Stupid DVLA/Government I fill in all the info online and you still want me to sign a bit of paper” and then have done it. They could have sent it off, I would have got my licence and not been any wiser

Well I have done a bit of research and lots of people have been caught but it looks legal

However I think I might be able to get my money back – under the Distance Selling Regulations I have 14 Days to reject a good / service once I get them - So have I been onto the Small Claims Court web site and started a proceeding against them but put it on hold and just sent them the paperwork (its free until you actually issue the summons) basically telling them they have 7 days to pay me back or I take them to court

IF I get my money back I’m not sure I will class it as a win maybe just less of a fail

Nationwide Building Society and their Internet Banking.

I have an account with this lot, and that account gives (or probably gave) me reasonable interest rates. It was always accessible from the Internet, but I never really bothered using it preferring to just let it grow and accumulate.

However, a friend needed some propping up, and I thought I could use some of those funds to help him out. However, because I had not accessed that account for a few years, it was locked out and I had to get it reactivated. So went into town and asked for them to do so.

A week later, I got a letter with my customer n umber and a secret code to use on the site. I got as far as typing in my customer number when I was asked to insert my card into a card reader and type in my PIN. This is new - or at least new since I last used it. I have no card, so another trip to the Nationwide to ask them for a card. A week later, the card arrives.

A week from that (today), still no notification of my PIN, which means it’s either been lost in the post or (as the letter with the card intimates) they believe I already have a PIN. So, I guess I’ll have to call them again for that, and wait another “7 to 10 working days” for it to arrive.

Thankfully, my friend has resolved his troubles, which means I don’t feel the urgency I was about it, but still, it should not take a month to sort this out. They should surely have known I needed all this tat to get the account working online again?

There's a box to click on to use memorable data rather than the chip and pin machine.

Indeed, assuming you can remember your memorable data. The click box to use memorable data is on the right hand side of the page after you've put in your internet banking number.

There are other issues with memorable data is that others would also know it. I cannot use my birthdate because others will know it but I cannot remember any other memorable date.
