Yes and he must have had a big pocket in his suit for that. Great product placement though.

Who is Steven Colbert? :?

It has got a couple of placements so far.

Interestingly, the advert they made showed the iPad browsing the New York Times website, including Flash objects! After people complained to the FTC, Apple changed the ad and it now doesn't show Flash. Looks like somebody browsed the NYT site on their computer, captured it and CGIed it onto a rotating iPad... Wouldn't it have been easier to film a real iPad browsing the site? :?

He is an American TV host who is basically a faux Bill O'Reilly. He used to be a writer on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Which begs the question, who is Bill O'Reilly? Or Jon Stewart for that matter... ;)

I think I've got some googling to do.

No need, Dave. Live it blissful ignorance like I do. It's fun!

(I've heard of Jon Stewart. He wouldn't be funny without his script team, and that's debatable.)

A bit on the geeky side. It looks to me that he would be better served by one of the pre existing tablet PCs. I wonder why he has not bought one.

The iPad is a competitor to netbooks. Will it do what most netbooks are actually used for and do it more pleasurably? that is the sort of question that needs to be asked.

I'd say the iphone/ipod touch is Apples answer to netbooks. The iPads probable price (excluding operater subsidy) ~ 370 puts it against cheap notebooks.
As wether it will do what most netbooks are actually used for more pleasurably that is going to be a totally subjective and individual perspective. also if your going to splash out on one, odds are that your not going to turn around and go.. whoops.

No, you would just give it a quick wipe down and hope that nobody else in the shop has noticed.

;)
