Morning all,

Last day at work - was supposed to have been last week, but I'm back to oversee the installation of the new time-keeping system...

Sorry to hear about your car woes Heather. Can't you go to the local scrap yard and pick up a new ECU from a scrapper? That should save you several hundred quid.

Ben, yep, I've been on lots of projects like that. The best was where the we lost the last 8 hours of work that the users had done, the "standard" procedure was to keep stumm and then blame it on user error! I bucked the trend, explained the situation to the department head at the customer and said we would attempt to recover the data - we lost 4 transactions from 8 hours worth of work! They were very happy and their confidence in the system (and us) increased manifold.

Morning.

Dave, it seems the ECU has to be programmed to the specific model. That's the expensive part, apparently.

Who thought stuffing so much electronics into a mechanical machine would be such a good idea? I'd like to shake their hand, and kick 'em in the nuts.

It'll be an in-and-out day today. Best Beloved is off to the eye clinic this morning, and I've got some business catching up to do. Also considering whether it's actually worth my while applying for a couple of jobs that popped up in the area. I was seriously considering applying for a job in MK that I spotted, but I couldn't face all the upheaval of moving and sorting out places to live.

Ack.

Onwards and sideways. :)

Morning

Very often when I come over to the main Disco HQ my desk isn't set up. I'm trying not to take it personally lol. Hopefully I will be in my permanent home soon (which will be next to boss by the window)

Have a good one all.

Morning All,

Very foggy here this morning but, driving over the downs road was stunning. Just a sea of fog with the peaks of the hills showing through. I nearly turned for home to get my camera.

Have a good one.

Morning all. Back in work. It seems IT deleted my user account then created a new one with the same username and e-mail for me, so I've lost all my previous e-mails and my build environment is capput. I'd got 12 weeks of little Windows niggles alterred, and got VS working just about how I wanted it! AND they've given me a new crappier mouse! Bah!

Surveyor coming tomorrow to poke the house. Looks like it's happening.

I hope it's okay - I really want get out of here so that I can get a real job doing real things for real money. Which, thanks to 65 years of Labservative failure, means I can't stay up north.

Hi Guys,

I'm sort of back - not that I was much of a regular, but I've been lurking... Glad to see that the old place hasn't changed that much :D

Morning all. Looks like it will be another nice day. Shame it's meant to be raining by the weekend :(

Anywho, have a great day folks.

Morning all,

I wasn't sent to Brum yesterday, but I was on my feet for a good eight hours before I got a break...
I was trying to make this system fall over, after three hours we managed it (none of us are sure how) and we have logs from various instruments which are being read by various people. Hopefully we can find out what's what!
