I had a play around on my sister's Nokia 5800 this morning and was not impressed. The operating system seems very badly thought out and the touch-sensitive screen requires firm jabs. I'm just glad I went for the iPhone Peter.

Wow! I have just bought Star Walk. http://vitotechnology.com/star-walk.htmlPoint your iPhone at the sky and it tells you what you are looking at. Loads of other stuff too. This is like having the future in your pocket. CC

It is a bit gobsmacking. The second app. that I have paid over a pound for. Worth every penny.

These lazy geeks, they want an app yet won't write it themselves, when I was a programmer if you wanted an app the phone didn't come with you had to write it yourself ...by hand... ...in binary...

Luxury. When I were a lad you had to type out the bytecode in hex on the phone keypad. Jon

These lazy geeks, they want music, yet won't write & perform it themselves!

These lazy geeks; they want hardware yet don't design it, write it in VHDL, test it on an FPGA, correct faults and send it to Taiwan to be fabricated.

So, got my iPhone back... The repair centre sent a note, they haven't repaired it, they couldn't find a fault - even though it bricked several times and was still bricked when I took it into the T-Mobile shop... Done a rebuild this time, instead of a restore, see if that makes a difference. Maybe something had got corrupted originally and was backed up corrupted...

I thought I would did this thread up from the grave. Of the Apps I have mentioned previously there are a few that I am still using regularly. Shazam Tap Tap Revenge Stanza Apple Remote Google Mobile Wikipanion Take Me To My Car Comixology tChess Pro Star Walk There have been one or two new ones since. Redlaser http://redlaser.com/ is one of the best. It scans barcodes and gives the best internet price. It has saved me quite a bit of dosh. I also use Internet RadioBox to listen to internet radio. It is very good. http://www.appsafari.com/utilities/7479 ... -radiobox/Though I am told that ootunes does a similar job and gets some very good reviews. http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZSt ... 82364&mt=8

OOOH I have made a discovery. In Mail when you type hold down the dot (full stop) key you get some handy shortcuts popping up. Edit. The same in Safari but this time they are behind the .com key.

I spent 59p on an app that uses the accelerometer to measure bed movements.
Not for this activity though - for sleeping.
It measures your movements in bed to determine your sleep cycles, and wakes you at a good point during the cycle.

Now what I need is an app that combined the two. To wake her up when I get to the good bit.
