It's a pity because the races are quite competitive... up to a point. To paraphrase Gary Neville - 'Formula one is a sport where people race for 90 minutes and then Sebastian Vettel wins'. Jon

What's happened to the good old days of trying a late brake up the inside causing mayhem and confusion and if we’re lucky a bit of pushing and shoving once the driver have released themselves form their entanglement.

That's down to the last 20+ years of aero development. It is the introduction of drs and kers that have finally reintroduced the late breaking and wheel to wheel racing. Without it it becomes impossible to get any closer once you're 1 second behind because the chasing car is so dependent on clean air for downforce and the car in front leaves behind a region of air that is turbulent and being thrown all over the place. This means the chasing car can't corner and loses time in the corners which it can only just make up for in the straights as it isn't close enough to get the slipstream.

Understood but - Think you might want to tell Kamui Kobayashi, he seems to be the only driver who has honed the skill of a late drive up the inside and pulling it off....

I don't think it will make too much difference in the race to be honest, and if everyone is restricted in the same way then qualifying won't be affected either. I am hoping for some interesting overtaking with these super-soft tyres though. And it's been too long a time since a big smash on the first corner.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

It'll be a laugh to see them fall "off the cliff" after half an out lap though.

Maybe they are driving more carefully because of the increase in insurance premiums?

I’m just wondering if it’s worth losing the 2pts early prediction on Guru to get an idea of grid positions as Monaco can be a bit of a precession.
I know we are all hoping that the new tires etc will add some overtaking but it’s still going to be limited. It’s a tight course, I was racing on it last night on F1 2010 and it’s [LIFTED] tight (not a good one to play online if your in a room with a bunch of idiots).

The super softs will barely last 10 laps. http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227/69 ... supersoftsAlso a truck fire has damaged the road surface at turn 1 http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227/69 ... truck-fireI raced Monaco on F1 2010 a couple of nights ago. Really tough track.

Plenty of time to sort it. They will have a emergency patching contingency already in place although, depending where it is, it could be a bit slippery until it polishes up.
