i know. but they harbour different architectural remains. i think they should both be listed ( maybe the constituency does'nt want york to be listed because then your not allowed to move a stone without people doing a full assessment of it)

To be honest York has never struck me as being that special. Very nice yes but nothing more.

It does become a nightmare for people who live within the restricted area so its very much some gain others loose out in any given location.

I have lived in Oxford, Bath and the Gower all of which had one designation or another on them always caused problems.

York is a lovely lovely place that is ruined by being full (and I mean full) of tourists all the time. If it wasn't for that, I'd happily live there.

Yeah. Although the town centre is weird on a non-rugby weekend over (or preferably just after) christmas, with no students about.

yes but only because its quiet then and you are used to seeing it rammed full with people.

A bunch of bulbs, front anti-roll bar bushes (both sides of the wishbone) front brake hose split and a problem with the caliper arm snail on the parking brake :(
Most of it we can do ourselves, but it's a pain and an expensive one at that !!

Yup. It's much nicer without the tourists, although I do quite like it on rugby weekends. Particuarly when Stade visited and we were stood by the wier, listening to the children laughing at their kit.
