No need to run, Caz. Mrs V and two out of three of the kids have got iPhones. They all hate them and want a proper phone, like mine...!

I thought one of the points of an Android phone was that Google sucked your data off it and into their data repository at the earliest opportunity so your numbers are backed up in some Google account somewhere or have you managed to sidestep that completely?

You don't have to sync your data with Google if you don't want to. However the default is to do it, so you have to keep an eye on the settings. Plus there are a fair number of things that attempt to record your behaviour i.e. what you search for on the internet & etc.
You can have an Android phone and not share with Google if you want to. But it's work.

Apple are trying to maintain a family friendly perspective. Though with the problems with kids spending thousands on in app purchases they might need to rethink.

They have parental controls, so where is the problem to flag such content as 18+ and not let children using a device in protected mode have access to such content? Surely as an adult, I should have the right to decide whether I want to buy/download content, as long as the content doesn't break any laws?

I agree with you. Though Apple seem to be taking a moralistic view for whatever reason.

Tried to fix a leaking shower. Bought a seal kit off the web. Tried to take apart a component only to find it's an "all in one" and is a cartridge that costs £120 to replace. Fixed all the seals, only to find it lasted ten minutes before it started to leak again. Means either new cartridge or new shower.

Well just about to head out and realised would be in East London around Lunch time – been advised of a great little Buffalo Wing place in the area so though I would visit it – only to find its shut and moving to a new location and not open yet in the new location So a fail as was looking forward to having some good hot wings but not a total fail as at least looked it up first before schlepping over
