Err.. what's proprietary about a USB port??

You can't use a USB wall plug with the controller and original lead, it won't run off a powered hub yada yada yada. Manufacturers need to be paying money, basically. I've tried every USB cable I have. And that's quite a few. It's not strictly proprietary, but it might as well be!

It might be a design flaw but still a tail of fail.

<scratches head> That's exactly how I charge up mine. Actually, I can't guarantee it's the original lead, I've got so many of those leads it's impossible to tell any more. However I definitely charge my playstation pad from a wall plug USB charger. An iPod charger in fact.

I've even tried a full-on phone charger for older phones that used that port. Weren't there two versions of the PS3 pad?

Yes, the initial one without rumble (which have the word 'sixaxis' on them) and the later ones where they put rumble back in (which I think have the words 'dual shock 3' on them). I'm using a DS3. I do find that the flashing red 'charging' lights don't stay on with a wall charger but the pad does still charge even so.

Not all USB wall chargers are equal of course. I think the one I use is a 1 amp job, not sure if an original 500mA charger will do the job. I bought a surge protected power brick that has two 500mA USB plugs on it and quite a few things won't charge at all when plugged into them. Can't remember if I tried the DS3 that way though. Given the rumble would presumably require a beefier battery, it's possible the DS3's don't charge properly with 500mA USB.

Well, if I can't Dremel this thing satisfactorily I'll have to look into that further! If nothing else I've got another USB wall plug out of it...

Sounds like you have enough chargers to open up a phone accessories shop!

ION: We had a flowerbox and picture taken from our workplace. It's in the waiting area so we suspected a thief. The exact part of the waiting area wasn't covered but the reception and doors were so I had started to look through the videos. Identified the person and was about to report it to the practice manager. Turns out they had been donated by a patient who had taken them back to refreshen the flowers and replace the frame.

Also was told yesterday that I had to fill in a form declaring my pension contributions or some crap by the accountants. Duly filled it in but was concerned about a couple of issues. Rang the pensions agency and turns out I didn't need to fill in the form!

Tried to download CoD DLC via the game. Got to 97% and it bugged out.

Have had to go back in via PS Store to try again. It was 1.8GB on a 3.6-meg connection speed.

He is not wrong when he says that if you need subtitles you cannot understand someone. His mentioning of Nadine Coyle is appropriate. I remember once watching a TV program about car thieves from Sunderland with a friend from Newcastle. he had to translate for me. How is that racist?
