Have they never heard of a magnetometer?

Quote:
Typical Detection Range For Common Objects

Ship 1000 tons: 0.5 to 1 nT at 800 ft (244 m)
Anchor 20 tons: 0.8 to 1.25 nT at 400 ft (120 m)

Grenade: 0.5 to 2 nT at 10 ft (3 m )

With knowing almost the exact location and the water depth being relatively shallow, I'm surprised they haven't found it. Is there more to this.....

It's probably sitting on someone's mantelpiece, like the guy who mistook a transatlantic fibre-optic cable for a new type of seaweed and cut out a section to show his friends :P

Ian Wright - the illustrator & designer, who I know had worked for Pink Floyd also designed the H2G2 book cover with Hipgnosis.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hitchh ... axy_(novel)

What’s galling is that he used to come in and do the occasional few days with us at University (we seemed to speak mostly about Ren and Stimpy). I knew about the Pink Floyd stuff - mostly because he was wiring on the Pulse Album and the graphics for their Division Bell tour, but I didn’t know about the H2G2 book cover until today. :o

Really, I should not be surprised as there is a strong Pink Floyd/Douglas Adams connection, but still - a sternly worded note to my former course leader on Facebook may be in order. :x

What the hell Cloaked_Wolf's signature actually relates to! (yeah, I've just watched a Tron film for the first time ever).

I watched Tron Legacy. Having not seen any of the others I do not know if it is classified as "the good one", although given that it's not the original I suspect not ;)

Tron Legacy could have had the potential to be the new Star Wars/Matrix IMO. But it was flawed. The original was better in terms of plot, the sequel was better in terms of music and visuals.

Given the sequels to The Matrix And the new Star Wars movies could with some justification be described as 'absolute gash' I'm actually kind of glad Tron Legacy didn't spawn a sequel. There is a continuing talk about a spin off animated series set between the two films (Tron Uprising I think) but it was originally supposed to air last summer and has continually been put back since, so I have no great confidence it will ever in fact show up.

Update : ooh. according to Wikipedia it starts in the US on Disney XD early June. I'll have to check the schedules o the UK version.

Plus (from my reading of it) the ending of T:L didn't really allow for a sequel - isn't the grid wiped when Flynn reintegrates Clu?

The grid does seem to get blown up, but you do also see that when Tron is sinking into the water, all his lights go out, but then they do come back on again in a different colour. How much one can read into that I do not know however.

I'll have to rewatch it at some point but I thought Tron changed from Rinzler (fighting for the programs) to Tron (fighting for the users), hence the colour change.

The bit where it could have been Matrix-esque is the bit where Flynn enters the club. I thought something ubercool was gonna happen but it didn't. We could have seen the master gamer at work! I did like how some of the programs kneeled to him like he was The One!

He's only 62! He'd been around 60 and could have at least pulled off a few sweet moves. Failing that, they could have done the Matrix thing and just CGI'd him (or his face like they did with the younger version of him).
