Trivial Pursuit / Canasta IMO rejecting any kind of knowledge as being worthless is the height of conceit. I agree with you on Monopoly though. _________________Jim

Surely it's oxymoronic? I just don't understand any knowledge can be rejected as wholly worthless. The worth of knowledge cannot surely be limited to its apparent usefulness. _________________Jim

Some knowledge is undervalued or misunderstood. However, "trivial pursuits" is specifically about facts deemed to be of little or no value. It's the name of the game. Surely "conceit" more aptly applies to someone who is proud to win such a game? Hey, I despise the game. Edited for accuracy  We've bought Monopoly for christmas. It's nice to have games the whole family can play together, with the TV off.

We bought the version of Monopoly with the electronic cards, instead of paper money... What a great way to destroy the game.  On the look-out for paper monopoly money at the moment...
