What about hunters hunting for sport? They are worse offenders than these guys, at least they ate what they killed... :?

I don't think the RSPCA are so annoyed about the rat being eaten, rather that there are strict rules governing the use of animals for entertainment which dictate supervision. And rightly so.

The question, as pcernie said, is whether "it was a performance" related to the TV show rather than a perfectly legal act of hunting.

I wasn't there. I don't know the answer.

This all rather depends on the rat in question.
Not all rats make lovely friendly pets that are just adorable; many are in fact really nasty critters that require training to handle.
My guess is that if it was a wild beasty, then there's all sorts of nasty things they could be carrying.

I disagree with IVFGMOOOD, only watched one episdode, everyone was pretending to like each other, and they killed a tankful of water spiders and fish just so we could watch Jimmy White be flustered for 3 minutes, it's inane, cruel and tedious, we used to laugh at Japanese TV shows for being that crap. Couldn't care less about the rat, they ate it, so it wasn't cruelty, if that deserves an arrest then there are a lot of KFC abatoirs who will surely be going out of business.

I see the RSPCA in Australia have made it a criminal offence not to walk your dog every day! It doesn't matter how big your garden is or how much exercise the dog gets, if you don't take him for a walk at least once a day, you are breaking the law!

We take the dog for a walk 3 times a day, so once a day sounds pretty awful, the dog need to go more than once a day. But if your land is big enough, does you really need to also walk them? :?

I've always had a bit of a problem with the way they treat animals on the show as part of the trials. However, in this particular instance, it was for food, so perfectly acceptable.

We’re all getting upset about a rat? What about all the bugs and insects they consume as part of this spectacle? If you are going to complain about a rodent, then you have to complain about the rest of the fauna they scoff.

It’s all for entertainment, it’s not a documentary about the survival needs of an indigenous inhabitant.

Exactly. I don't remember any complaints when they get contestants like Jordan to nibble on a kangaroo's penis.

It annoys the hell out of me a bunch of wasters who want nothing more that to be "famous" munch their way through the Australian flora and fauna, not just the rat.

I can't see any point to the programme whatsoever. You may as well just go down town and listen to a bunch of halfwits stuff their faces in McDonalds.

Unlike the z-listers, at least you say something useful Geiseric.

Well, from time to time. :D ;)

The wasters are or were famous already. This is just a rubbish way to relaunch a dead career for most of them.

Have they put Antandec through the trials yet? I think that might be quite amusing, especially as I'm now heartily sick of them trying to sell me some stupid computer console. :x
