Because not knowing when the show is on is bound to help maintain an audience  . Also the fact that TV audiences are always lower in the summer, for everything.

It's Doctor Who. The chance of people not knowing when it's on is going to be very slim, especially in the UK. The BBC marketing/promotion departments will make sure of that. Playing with the format and time of year that it's on is about maintaining audience expectations. I don't know if it'll work, I'm only telling you what Stephen Moffat said in the interview, and even then it's all from memory. Mark

One more good reason to look forward to the Olympics ending  I watch a couple of things on TV, but WHO is the only one I look forward to. None of the adverts I've seen on TV have given the date. Just "coming soon". I saw the date on The Register

I don't watch a lot of TV during the week, but the last TV advert for new Who that I saw also had just the 'coming soon'. I suspect we'll start seeing the new updated ads shortly. Mark
