I really wish other companies would follow Dell in getting rid of the BS bezel around screens.

Apple to put a dynamic, transforming e-ink keyboard in the 2018 MacBook | TechRadar
http://www.techradar.com/news/apple-to- ... 18-macbook

That's a great idea, and will presumably save them a fortune eventually with regards to regionalisation (if that's a word).

It is; and I'm somewhat surprised that some keyboard supplier like Cherry hasn't come up with this before - though knowing Apple, it wouldn't surprise me if they have.

e-Ink really doesn't feel right for Apple. It flickers, which is probably enough to them off. They are more likely to further develop their haptic engine and use an iPad like screen for a keyboard.

I've been thinking about this for a while, and whilst I use my iPad quite a lot, I don't think I'd like typing on a hard piece of glass for anything other than short bursts.
I'd certainly not be overjoyed if physical keys on a laptop got replaced by an iPad-like screen.
The idea of bashing my fingers down on a sheet of glass for an extended period of time does not fill me with hope for future use of laptops/computers.

Where the hell are you leaving your bike that someone would take an angle grinder to it?

Seriously though look at the amount of money Apple makes every quarter? Do you really think they're thinking 'hey, we can make an extra five dollars on our 1700 dollar laptops..' The idea Apple design stuff thinking about the razor blade model is patently false, since nobody charges what they do for a 'razor' in the first place.

Considering what they often charge for a '£1-2 cable', I just don't know either way.
