So in the time its taken Dennis to re-launch there botched forums and totally segregate there population into ghettos.
A small bunch of amatuers have constructed a lively replacement with currrently at time of writing 200 members, 364 topic and 8612 posts.

Mmmmm something tells me there wasnt anybody to open the cans at the brewery for the piss up to take place!!

Big sdhout out to the X404 crew :D

Where people have moved to here or to bit-tech, the old forums will lye in ruins, with new users stumbling on it and wondering what on earth has happened, a civilisation here one minute and gone the next...

Dennis mucked it up, the forums may be fine* and they may have been fixed, but who cares about forums that have finally been fixed when the community has gone elsewhere?

*it seems less than fine for me :(

The sad part as far as I'm concerned is many months ago I was in communication with several "people at PcPro" suggesting that they had some serious levels of experience amongst their users and why not ask them to be involved and to help.

It would have been a win win.

Transparency as to what was happening. / improved communication
Advice on impact and how to avoid it.
Technical knowledge which they obviously don't have.
Ownership from the user base.

And probably lowering costs as well.
Shame really, but hey ho we now have these excellent forums top man Saspro. :D

I agree, a forum needs a healthy userbase but people won't stay if they don't get what they want/need from a forum. Therefore, it makes sense to get the general opinion of the forum regulars as opposed to making stupid and brash moves without any input from the people that matter.

I agree though, Saspro is awesome. Thanks for everything.

I think certain bodies at Dennis Towers know by now that this whole forum thing was handled badly. I really don't think there's anything to be gained by keep banging on about it.
There's a healthy, vibrant community here at the moment, what needs to be done is keep that and build on it.
What ever happens with the Dennis boards now shouldn't really matter for the refugees that made it here and vow to never return to their old haunt.
Let bygones be bygones and just continue here as you mean to go on.

Mark

Says someone with a sig like yours

Anyway, I do agree with you, Mark. What happened is in the past and can stay there for all I care. Let's make this the last rant or "ZOMG D3NN1S PHA1L!!!11!!!11!" thread. We have a new life here - let's get on with it.

I'm a plug & pray man when it comes to modern day websites. In the old days though I wasn't too bad.
Although this is the first site I've ever had that's getting a million hits a week

How many views is that by the way?

Sorry Hits are a dubious, to say the least, indicator.

Saspro, may I ask how these hits are being calculated? I believe that you have to be correct (afterall, you are Saspro, master of all you survey). However, 1 million hits a week is over 140,000 a day and that seems like a massive number. How do you define each individual hit?
