I occasionally buy a "Scientific American" or "New Scientist" if there's something interesting I want to read or keep. Mostly I read NS at work because Aqualab have a subscription, but otherwise I do all my reading (newspapers and magazines) online.

Now that is spooky! I think it was when I returned everything, packaging and all with a terse letter, in one of their own envelopes without putting postage on it that worked for me. What annoyed me about RD was they threatened me because I didn't renew my subscription. I mean, WTF?!? If I fail to renew a sub with any other publisher in the known universe, that's it, no problem, perhaps a "sorry you've not renewed" letter. With RD, they were about to send the bailiffs. They got a very strongly worded letter about that, and they didn't bother me again

I currently only (fully) subscribe to Empire, and that's only cos it was laughably cheap. I have 'trials' of PC Pro and Computer Shopper I occasionally buy Total Film and other mags for a certain bunch of features etc. I think I now buy the entire CE range of Marvel and DC comics these days

Doctor Who DVD Files, but that's for Brooke. Honest I also used to get the Technet Magazine before they stopped the paper edition.

I just don't see the advantage in spending good money I don't have to read "news" that's out of date in a job where I can't use it.
Oh God I'm such a miserable old git

I recycled around 50 copies of MacUser over the last week, I didn't have the room to transport them home, and didn't have the time to find a second home for them...
Cancelled my subscription two weeks back too.

I'm down to one - Private Eye. Linux Format went out the window for two reasons, firstly I am now officially an Apple convert. The second being that it's better for my monthly budget.

If you buy them every month without fail why not save money with a subscription?

If I had a subscription, how would I get my exercise at lunchtimes? What would I read in WH Smiths and more importantly, where's the cash coming from for this mountain of paper??? Nope - it's my solemn duty to read the mags for free and get exercise whilst getting there and back Al

??? Do you buy them or just read them in the shop and put them back? If you actually pay for them, it'll work out cheaper in the long run with a subscription. I think CPC still offer three free issues if you subscribe.
