UK's super rich appear to get special deal from HMRC, says watchdog
In a period when total tax income went up by £23bn, those worth £20m or more actually paid £1bn less tax. Remember that next time some Tory is defending a tax cut..

In other news, the Pope is Catholic and Bear do their business in the woods.

My Dad was doing his tax return last night and there much grumbling and swearing going on... and he's an (admittedly retired) accountant. Tax doesn't have to be taxing my flabby backside.

The government spendings here have always baffled me, as on the face of it, the UK is a wealthy country.
I would pay more or less the same tax in France for (I believe) a lot more value for money. But when I read this, I can understand why the government here has a much lower revenue, and therefore less money to go around.

I also found some stats about this (Total tax revenue per country in the OECD, circa £990 billion in France, vs £600 billion in UK, https://stats.oecd.org/Index.aspx?DataSetCode=REV)

Remember it when you're voting and all.
